Our Shotgun Faction has just completed the addition of a new “5 Stand Field” at our facility. This field consists of 7 electric machines that are controlled from a central box located at the tower. The referee of the shooting squad can deliver either single or double clays for each shooter.
A squad consists of 5 shooters; each shooter takes a turn at each of the 5 stations until he/she completes 25 shots. The shooter will shoot one single bird, one following pair, and one true double at each station. (Each station will have a sign posted to let shooters know which birds they will be shooting.)
This new facility was the brain child of Ralph and Ray McCray who did all the design and construction of the field. They made and set up the building that houses the shooting stands and delivered it to its present site. They also set up and wired all the machines throughout the shooting field. (No small feat!)
Ralph’s company “Miramichi City Scrap Metals & Redemption Centre” donated all the metal stands, wiring, switches, etc., needed to complete the project.
Note: The shooting station building has a steel roof which allows the shooters to remain dry if it’s raining.
Without the support of two local businesses our “5 Stand Field” would not have gotten off the ground as we were short 2 electric machines needed to complete the course. Ralph McCray (Miramichi City Surplus & Metals) and Troy Watt (Mobile Equipment & Supply) came to our rescue and supplied 2 new battery operated clay target throwers which are now set up and operating.
