The “ Miramichi Open” sporting clays shoot was held on Saturday May 20th at the Miramichi Sportsmens Club. This was a 50 bird Sporting Clays shoot with shooters participating from around the Maritimes. We had shooters participate from the Moncton, Fredericton, Charlottetown and Greenwood Gun Clubs as well as members from our local gun club. A number of shooters also shot rounds of Trap and Skeet when they finished shooting Sporting Clays.

We were very fortunate as the weather cleared for the day making the shoot very enjoyable. We had steady rain the day before and the day after our shoot so we really lucked out. The top shooter of the day was Trevor Saunders with a great score of 42/50. He received a cash prize of $100 for his effort. The shoot results were very close with Bernd Zur Nedden shooting 41/50 for 2nd place. There were also a number of shooters who had shot 40/50 and quite a few shooting in the high 30’s. Thanks to our many sponsors there were a number of $25 cash prizes and a number of gift cards which were distributed to a large number of shooters. These prizes were drawn by lucky draw with everyone who participated in the shoot having an equal chance to win.
